Alice Fairbank

HCPC Therapist

Alice is an HCPC registered art therapist and systemic family therapy practitioner and trained supervisor. Alice studied a degree in Creative Expressive Therapy at Derby University, and an MA in Art Psychotherapy at the university of Hertfordshire. Alice has worked in schools, private practice and in the NHS where she incorporates ideas from systemic family therapy and dyadic developmental psychotherapy (DDP) into her practice; these hold in mind the influence of historical and surrounding factors and relationships.

Art therapy is a creative way to express yourself, you do not need to be good at art or have any previous experience or training. Art therapy offers a safe space to be curious and explore in a non-judgemental and supportive environment. Using play and creativity as well as talking can be a useful way to represent thoughts and feelings. It may be that finding the words to describe something can be tricky or that it is useful to find other ways to communicate to find a better understanding.
